Best Project Award from NHRD

Congratulations to Amplify students and their mentoring staff.

26th September 2008: The Faculty Internship Initiative which was introduced by NHRD, Pune Chapter had its meet at Amplify. It was attended by the representatives from Suzlon Energy from the Industry and Faculty & Student members from Amplify DITM - Bharati Vidyapeeth University, Indira Institute of Management, Pune & Vaikunth Mehta Institute of Co-operative Management. During this meet, projects were given to students. The project duration was of six weeks after which the project report was submitted to NHRD & Suzlon Energy thus working as an ice breaker for the Institute & the Industry. 2 projects were taken up with Suzlon and WNS.

Amplify Students Swapnil and Ruchi worked on a project with Suzlon and won the best project award from NHRD. Details of the project are mentioned below.

Objective : To document and suggest improvements in the process of Evaluating Effectiveness Of Training Programs (based on the Kirk Patrick model) at Suzlon Energy Ltd.
Project Duration : 6 weeks (in the months of September & October)
Student's Experience: The students got good exposure to the working mechanisms and environment of a corporate company. This gave them a good first-hand experiential view on the Industry's expectation from the junior executives, a role the students would shortly play. They also learnt practical ways in which theoretical models in HR (L&D) are put to use in companies. Eg. The Kirkpatrick Model for evaluation and feedforward on training sessions done, Questionnaire design paradigms like KASH.
The Documentation that Suzlon provided and the structured way the questionnaire design and administration was done gave a significant view on the meticulous process-orientation that corporates assume as a standard part of their SOP.
Students' recommendations
to Suzlon :
1) Suzlon should design the evaluation questionnaire and administer it before the session is conducted. This will provide control or base data against which the post-training responses to the same questionnaire can be compared to arrive at the contribution made by the training session to the trainee.
2) The other recommendation the faculty makes to Suzlon is to institutionalize the practice of using academic resources (students, guided by faculty) to execute volumes of such work – that lets students learn the process in real life, and gives the company very high bandwidth to accommodate the high volumes of activity required.

Project Name : Employee Engagement
Objective : To find and implement effective ways to engage employees to their work, thereby improving productivity.
Description : WNS follows different ways to engage employees, like special days, regular employee feedbacks, reward & recognition, etc.
